Complete Ski Says Don't Forget Cover as Season 07/08 Hits Early

Ski insurance specialist, Complete Ski, is urging customers to make sure they have adequate insurance for the 2007/2008 ski season to prevent them facing an expensive winter, as heavy snow hits the Austrian Alps and a new survey suggests many people ski without enough protection.

Complete Ski is reminding the public that, while the early snow in European resorts is good news, they should not forget to take adequate insurance against the prospect of accidents on the piste for this new winter season. This year the famous Kitzbuhel resort in the Austrian Alps has opened earlier than ever, on November 2nd after flurries of snow (dispelling worries after the "warm" November of 2006). Similar scenes have been reported across many of Austria's other slopes and Switzerland has seen the snowiest start to the season for over fifty years.

It all points to a great start to Ski season 2007/8, with many enthusiasts booking or getting ready to go on their annual ski holidays. A dose of realism is added from reports suggesting that more than 20,000 of the 1.26 million Brits expected to go skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing during the 2007/08 season are likely to suffer injury.

"Many of our previous customers visited Austria, in places like St. Anton, and Gerlos, as well as in Switzerland and France, as they will again this year. With French mountain doctors saying that almost one in 50 winter sports participants were injured in 2006-07, and with average insurance claims of £300 in France and Italy, and a staggering £10,000 in the USA, we just hope people take adequate insurance cover, in case of falls. People don't always realize that regular travel insurance does not commonly cover ski accidents and the kind of help you would need if you fall on the slopes."
