Andermatt is a resort for the serious skier.

Currently undergoing expansion after years of decline, it is still notable in its no-frills approach. There is little English spoken, very limited night life and few crowds.

But the skiing is still good: Andermatt has 24 pistes of its own (covering 56km) and some very good off piste opportunities. In keeping with its serious image, though, there is little in Andermatt for the beginners.
