Breckenridge is the most popular ski resort in North America, receiving 1.63 million skier visits in the 2007/08 season.
And one can easily see why: 'Breck' has 139 individual pistes of its own, with more accessible at Keystone for those that want. It has a strong snowboarding tradition, being the first Colorado resort to accept boarders and the host of the first ever World Snowboard Championships.
Add that it is only two hours drive away from Denver, and that it has the highest lift in North America (the Imperial Express Superchair reaches a peak of 3910 metres) plus an active après ski scene and Breck's popularity makes perfect sense.
