One of the classiest Italian resorts, Cortina d'Ampezzo is as stylish and expensive as one would expect of a resort where polo is one of the main après-ski activities.
Set in the heart of the Dolomites, it is sufficiently close to Venice or Udine for a quick weekend away.
Despite a history of elite skiing competitions, Cortina d'Ampezzo is best suited today to the intermediate skier, although it does provide access to a range of near-by mountains and resorts.
