Krasnaya Polyana - Russia

The most popular ski resort in Russa, Krasnaya Polyana will host the snow events of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It was a popular resort in the Tsarist era and, despite falling into unpopularity during the twentieth century it has grown rapidly in prestige since the fall of the Soviet Union; so much so that Vladimir Putin is a regular on the slopes.

The resort is most famous for its heli-skiing, but has gentle tree-lined slopes for the beginners to skiing as well.
