La Thuile - Italy
Although technically an Italian resort, La Thuile is so close to the French border (it would be called walking distance were it not in the Alps) that it allows skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the slopes of both countries. The most common destination is La Rosière, particularly for snowboarding.
This does not mean, though, that La Thuile has nothing to offer itself. 65 slopes, with 12 black runs for experts offer a full set of options, while there are heli-skiing opportunities up the Rutor glacier and Mont Miravidi. All this, and it remains uncrowded: a very attractive resort.
