Megève - France
Prestigious and classy, Megève rises above the crowd of identikit French resorts. A beautiful medieval town – from where cars are banned – it sits in the shadow of Mont Blanc and provides a more refined experience than some of its rivals. There are beauty farms, bridge clubs, a casino and high quality restaurants lining the cobbled streets.
The skiing is also excellent. Megève has three skiing areas of its own: Mont d'Arbois, Rochebrune and Le Jaillet. Perfect and picturesque for the intermediate, experts may have to try Mont Blanc at Chamonix instead.
