It is easy to assume that skiing is merely accidental to a holiday in St. Moritz; that the visitors go for the restaurants, the socialising, the polo, the lifestyle statement. It is certainly true that St. Moritz is a hub of high-class social activity, and that this is reflected in the prices.
But the skiing and snowboarding is still superb. Beginners and intermediates are both awash with options, while experts can choose between the black slopes at Diavolezza, the moguls at Lagalb and the off piste at Piz Noir.
Even snowboarders, rather out of sync with the self image of St. Moritz, can keep themselves busy.
