Tatranská Lomnica - Slovakia

Of all the former Eastern Bloc resorts, Tatranská Lomnica is the most picturesque. Located in the High Tatras, the mountains that run along the border between Poland and Slovakia, it is a charming village at the base of the towering Lomnický stit. And the cable car ride up that mountain is almost as thrilling as the descent down it.

The resort has does not have many slopes of its own but is just a brief rail journey away from Stary Smokovec which increases your options. Tatranská Lomnica is also a great resort on a budget, given it is just a coach ride from Kraków airport.
