Tignes may not quite have the name recognition of a Chamonix or Verbier but it has a claim to be the best all-round ski resort in the Alps.
Skiing of all kind, snowboarding and après-ski are all very well done at this small Sayovard town. Skiing is shared with Val d'Isère across the Espace Killy area, which covers more than 300km with more than 300 individual pistes.
The experts will find the Tovière mogul runs thrilling. Snowboarding is also very well done, with the Palafour Comb the biggest snowboarding area in Europe. Finally, the après-ski scene is as vibrant as anywhere else in France.
