Vaujany - France
Vaujany is a small, traditional skiing village near Grenoble. It has 46km of piste itself, and while good for the beginners it used to offer very little to the more advanced skier.
This all changed in the 1980s when re-investment in the area, thanks to a new hydro-electric plant, allowed Vaujany to connect itself by ski lift with neighbouring resorts including the Alpe d'Huez. In so doing, it created the Grandes Rousses ski area, which has almost 300 individual pistes and provides for all skiing interests.
